Sankofa - Impossible Bottle Service (2024)

Imagine waking up to an email. Inside that email was a link. Clicking that link lead to a folder. Inside that folder were 80 beats. Impossible Bottle Service is the result of the best of surprises-an unexpected opportunity to build with a master craftsman.

Yes, it is true, Sankofa spent his rap budget sending his sons to summer camp, during which time he wrote and recorded Impossible Bottle Service.

Sankofa - Sonny Kovah (2024)

This album is inspired by AZ, with the luxuriousness of Serf's lush production instantly transporting me to that state of mind.

Serf posted about prepping a new beat tape, so I hit him up to let him know that if he ever wanted a random verse/track on there, I'd be happy to drop something. He then told me I'd been someone he'd been looking to work with, but I was so busy he figured he'd wait a while. The project was initially just going to be a handful of tracks, but then expanded to 11, with me calling on dope friends to contribute (JON?DOE, Jeff Spec, and G Fam Black with verses, DJ Navin Johnson with cuts), then sent it to post with my man Tali Rodriguez, the genius behind so much of what I do.

The title came about because of executive producer JS Rivera, who some may know as Royalty OGTCH's son, having a bit of a time saying my rap name. What better way to celebrate my first executive produced album than have it unknowingly overseen/titled by a kid? Kids rule. I'm going to send a tape to his dad, because being an executive producer is a big deal.

The Silversmiths - The Beat Shall Inherit the Verse (2022)

Approximately four years ago, JON?DOE and Sankofa AKA The Silversmiths, a duo dedicated to making it happen, recorded an album. Beloved producer Agent Orange trod a mythical path only he knows and reemerged from the shroud of leap yeared invisibility with this banger of an album. There are backstories and then there is how this album came to be.

JON?DOE rapped really well
Sankofa rapped pretty good I guess
Agent Orange remade every beat from scratch

Memphis Reigns & Sankofa - Harikuma's Revenge (2022)

Nicest guy in rap, Memphis Reigns teams up with okayest guy in rap from Fort Wayne, Sankofa to wreck mics in the name of WE HAVE THE POWERNESS! This originally dropped on Memph's page, but he's so nice he gave me the go ahead to upload it to my bandcamp page as well!

Buy the vinyl from Memphis Reigns at LINK

Tim Baron made the artwork based on a drawing my son made of a final boss he made up called Harikuma. My son makes the most boss bosses, so beware!

Beats from Chef Mike, phdbeats, OJ the Producer, Profound, Engineering by TaliRod (not to be confused with TailRod), scratches by the inimitable DJ Navin Johnson.

Sankofa - BLKTCHP2 (2022)

As soon as BLKTCHP dropped, phdbeats was all for making a follow up. I promised him it'd happen once I tended to some other pieces I had in development and here we are-notably devoid of any feel good vibes and diving deeply into that menace medicine.
