Diastro x ILLtemper x Zak Meister x Black Hesher - Comfortably Scum 2 (2023)

After a long night of cumbing, those scum boys from the wave thing DIASTRO, ILLtemper and ZAK MEISTER realized that their short awaited and barely anticipated follow up to "Comfortably Scum" was at a standstill because they had no beats that smacked!
After some deep thotting, they put their foreskins together and with the power of Gray skull, or something...
They resurrected the ghost of SHEMROK CHRIST aka BLACK HESHER aka the FUNKY PHANTOM to produce all of the haunted beats for "Comfortably Scum 2: The Funky Phantom and The Electric Boogaloo". He's back with his ghost cat Trumpet, Culty the Puppet and the rest of the gang for one more adventure.

Tracks 1-11 Produced By: Black Hesher

LYRICS:
I like rivers, I like rivers
Sailboats, fisherman, skinny-dipping swimmers
Kids turning rocks over catching lil critters
Eagle in the pine tree eyeballing dinner
My uncle used to cut school to hit the Susquehanna
Kept himself a rod and reel he hid up in the bramble
The school took attendance, it was quiet as a mouse
He was at the river pulling out a giant by its mouth
A river in the daylight is energy and life
A river in the dark can be a genuine surprise
You might find some lovers getting cozy on the shore
Or a cold-blooded psychopath disposing of a corpse
Sitting by the Hudson river talking to a ghost
“I wish that we could rock a beat and smoke an L at Tone's
I miss the way you rhyme and how you never had a clone
Ain’t a motherfucker living that could ever crack the code"

I like rivers, I like rivers
Freight ships passing through old drawbridges
It looks so cool when you catch it from a distance
A little less cool when you stuck inside your Civic
I wonder what could possibly be lurking on the bottom
I look into the water and imagine all the options
A fish we never knew about, some rusty old jalopy
The murder weapon used to catch the aforementioned body
I seen a beaver chilling by the bank of the Willamette
We gazed upon each other undeniably enchanted
A wave of telepathic information through the filter
It said “when I go to heaven I want you to have the river”
He also said the others had agreed that I was chosen
Just don’t mention it front of them as gloating is for no one
I'm pretty sure you don't have the authority to say this
But thank you, I accept, I'll have my lawyer draft the papers

I like rivers, I like rivers
Hard to put a price on water for the village
I jumped into the Amazon to launder all my atoms
The Chao Praya had me spilling coffee on the captain
My heart is the East River floating on a frisbee
That came in from the Long Island Sound to sojourn in the city
It’s not the kinda water where you’d throw a Triple Lindy
If you get some on your skin they probably notify your siblings
I picture a scenario where someone’s held me captive
And escape would mean to build a raft and navigate some rapids
I wonder if my training from the school of tv magic
Would beget some makeshift watercraft that make off for Damascus
In practice I have no desire get into the water
I like to know it’s there in the event I ever wanna
Waterfalls, tributaries, Lichtenberg figures
Twilight fireflies, I like rivers

Ghostface Killah & Big Ghost LTD - The Lost Tapes (Deluxe Edition) (2023)

In celebration of the five year anniversary of Ghostface Killah’s widely acclaimed 2018 LP, The Lost Tapes, Big Ghost LTD is pleased to announce a deluxe edition reissue in partnership with Holy Toledo Productions and Coalmine Reocrds, which includes both the main and instrumental passes.

Despite what the title may suggest, The Lost Tapes is not a collection of rare or unreleased tracks, but rather an album recorded with the intention of summoning an incarnation of an early Tony Starks, akin to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Ironman, and Supreme Clientele. And this is achieved largely by the production value that Big Ghost LTD brings to the table. Armed with a cache of raw beats, Ghost tastefully weaves soulful samples to create a satisfying cocktail of distinctively up-to-date boom bap. This especially holds true on tracks like “Majestic Accolades” and “Watch Em’ Holla.” The former of which is among the album’s highlights, as Starky Love raps one of the more memorable hooks, talking about his experiences with girls, hustling, and life in general.

Narrated by Michael Rapaport, the ’90s hip-hop aficionado, actor and comedian helps keep the pace for Ghost Deini’s 10th solo LP by reminding us that we’re in the presence of greatness. But it’s the chemistry of emcee and producer that elevates The Lost Tapes to one of the more stand-out solo releases in Wu-Tang’s discography of recent memory. Entrenched in the classic Wu sound, the 12 track LP slaps like a ‘90s record without sounding like a strained attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle.

To boot, The Lost Tapes are also abound with features from hip-hop luminaries such as Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, E-40, Killah Priest, KXNG Crooked, Cappadonna, Big Daddy Kane, Ras Kass and more.

All in all, The Lost Tapes is a victory lap, and one who’s purpose is to not only to create nostalgia, but to formulate a group of songs that represent who Ghostface was as a person back then, and where he stands now as one of the most exemplary emcees of all time.

Granuja & Jam Baxter - Huéspedes [Beat by Jack Danz] (Official Music Video) (2023)

‘Huéspedes’ is the debut single from Colombian rapper Granuja and UK rap legend Jam Baxter.

Evoking the midnight blue tones of the ocean in the small hours, ‘Huéspedes’ is perfectly poised; both lyricists delving deep into the darker sides of their psyche, drawing on both internal battles and the chaotic, unforgiving nature of the world outside.

Featuring Baxter’s first ever Spanish 4-bar, and with DJ Sammy B-Side making a late appearance on the cuts, the track is ominous, foreboding, and acts as both a brilliant introduction of Granuja to the UK scene, but also a resounding reminder of Jam Baxter’s constant evolution as an artist.

Arsenic Beats & Supah Mpondo - Pocket Dial (2023)

MC / rapper Supah Mpondo teams up with boom bap hip hop producer Arsenic Beats to bring you their collaborative E.P titled Pocket Dial.

When asked about the E.P, Supah Mpondo had this to say:
"Pocket Dial is an ode to Arsenic Beats' drumming - how he be in his pocket, as they say, I made telecommunications references on some joints to add layers to the meaning, in addition, pocket dials are unintentional and thus short.
There is more to it, that 'more' is left to the listener."

Moemaw Naedon & C.Scott - Yinztroducing... (2023)

Yinztroducing is the second full length collaboration between the Pittsburgh-based duo of MC/ producer Moemaw Naedon and producer C.Scott. Following up on 2021’s River Rats LP, Yinztroducing is a decisive turn towards instrumental hip-hop. Inspired by the dense, sample-based albums of a past era with an eye towards the untapped sonic possibilities of the future, Yinztroducing conjures a humorous, psychedelic vision of beat music. Built from layers of vinyl records excavated from their beloved Attic Record Store and manipulated with various sampling drum machines, Moemaw Naedon and C.Scott deliver a singular document of their approach to production.

Fubar - Hell & Back

Fubar - Hell & Back album cover
Fubar Release

Hell & Back

Artist: Fubar
Tracks: 15
Mixed & Arranged: Fubar
Mastered: Subcon
Cover: Subcon

About the Album

Hell & Back finds Fubar balancing the violent battle rap and horror imagery associated with his music against some of his most personal subject matter. Across 15 tracks, the album moves through depression, anxiety, grief, aging, addiction, creative frustration, religion, mortality and the question of what remains after a person and their memories are gone. Features include Subcon, Sadida, Hi-Q, Jake Haw and Edd Bundy, with production coming from Raan, Devious Mike, Tideux, Hi-Q, Verbfromarizona, Lewis Sumisu, Wyze Intellect, BLNK, Kiza Beats and Spion Liape.

The title Hell & Back becomes increasingly appropriate as the record progresses. Hell is sometimes literal, filled with demons, Lucifer, God and religious imagery, but more often it represents the internal battles running underneath the music. Tracks like “Who Wanna Dance?,” “The Chopping Block,” “Demon Playtime” and “Existential Annihilist” lean into Fubar's aggressive, over-the-top persona, while “Beside Myself,” “Dangerous to Dream,” “Picture of Despair,” “Let Me Elaborate” and “Lucid Dreams” expose what is underneath it. Depression, memories of his father, creative exhaustion, isolation and questions about legacy repeatedly break through the armor.

The album is framed by two versions of “Time to Die.” Part 1 introduces Fubar in full attack mode, while Part 2 returns near the end sounding older, more introspective and considerably less invincible. That progression captures the album as a whole. Hell & Back is full of monsters, weapons and threats, but its real subject is the person creating them and the reasons he keeps returning to the page. Even the cover, designed by Subcon, reinforces that idea, depicting a burning hellscape while a pair of hands claw their way back toward the surface.

Mixed and arranged by Fubar and mastered by Subcon, Hell & Back ultimately feels less like a trip into Hell than a document from someone who has already been there and is still deciding exactly what it means to have made it back.
