Gruesome Twosome (Fubar & Subcon) - Time Capsule (2021)
Collaboration album between 2 members of Shark Brothers: Fubar & Subcon.
This project was a bit of a patchwork of sorts. We both had several unfinished tracks just sitting for years and decided it would make sense to bring them all together, dust them off, finalize and release them as our debut album under the group name "Gruesome Twosome". This is one of those projects we didn't necessarily think much of when we started but eventually came together to what we feel is an extremely strong project.
We also enlisted the help of a handful of talented fellow MC's in Sadida, Silentmind, I.N.F. & Jake Haw to round out the project.

DJ Abilities - Phonograph Phoenix (2021)
DJ Abilities first met Micheal “Eyedea” Larsen in the mid-90’s, and the two began a working relationship as Eyedea & Abilities that would play a prominent role in the burgeoning Indie-Rap movement of the time. Tragically, Eyedea passed away in 2010 leaving Abilities to soldier on, but the influence of their partnership continues to shape his music to this day. Abilities’ latest project, Phonograph Phoenix, finds the DJ/Producer returning to the forefront, embracing an entirely new approach to making music.
In a departure from previous sample-based work, Abilities built this album’s compositions from the ground up, creating his own sound through deep, cavernous bass, funky drums and enveloping synths, with razor sharp cuts and vocal chops providing a voice where his fallen partner may have once stood. Throughout its creation Abilities sought to ensure that each song on Phonograph Phoenix held qualifying meaning and that the album on a whole made a definitive statement. The process inspired him to dig deep and pull up some heavy, heartfelt beats and, speaking with his hands as all great turntablists do, he used this space to address grief, loss, and his own personal shortcomings, all while making room for hope and optimism.

Aesop Rock x Blockhead - Garbology (2021)
After over 20 years of collaboration, which also birthed Aesop’s two most popular songs to date (“Daylight” and “None Shall Pass”), Garbology is the first Aesop Rock album fully produced by Blockhead.
Garbology came together over the course of the pandemic, as well as in the midst of Aesop processing the loss of a close friend in January of 2020, resulting in a period of time of feeling uncreative. Looking back, Aesop recalls, “The world got real weird during those months. I knew at some point I had to get back to making something. Make a beat. Draw a picture. Write. Just go. But the idea of making a beat felt like math homework, and drawing is just so hard. Writing is hard too, but at some point I had to pick one.”
With writing as the chosen path, Aesop hit up Blockhead to send over some beats. At the beginning there wasn’t a plan for an album, or any particular plan beyond creating some songs. However, it didn’t take long for one song to become a few, then a handful, until finally an album was born.

Moemaw Naedon & C.Scott - River Rats (2021)
Moemaw Naedon & C.Scott’s new collaborative album, River Rats, is a wavy blend of genres—hip-hop, psychedelia, and just a hint of prog-rock—that perfectly captures the tension, confusion, and complexity of 2020. It’s also a personal project for the two Pittsburgh-based artists, who created a majority of the album during the COVID-19 lockdown. The result is a record that’s immediately relatable and engaging, but also thoughtful and incredibly creative.
The world of River Rats is one steeped in Naedon and Scott’s shared love for sampling and crate-digging. Their dusty fingerprints are all over this album, particularly Scott’s as he produced the entire project. But as he explained, the two would share sample sources and records while crafting these tracks, including the Prince Paul-esque interludes as well as standouts like “Off The Path” (feat. El Da Sensei) and “Summer In The Muck” (feat. B.Rude).
Those cuts also exemplify the humidity-soaked, naturalistic feeling of River Rats, which is fitting because Naedon and Scott worked on parts of the album while hanging out on the shores of the Allegheny River. “Since we couldn’t really hang out indoors with people that often, we chilled at the shores of the rivers in Pittsburgh drinking, smoking, building fires, playing beats out of Bluetooth speakers and just talking about what we were going through,” Neadon says. “Thus, the title ‘River Rats’ was born.”
River Rats is due out Sept. 02 through all digital retailers and streaming platforms via Soul Slime Records with limited copies available on and cassette through the label’s Bandcamp page. The cassette includes two bonus tracks, “Frog Work (instrumental)” and “P.K.E. (C.Scott Remix).”
