About the Album

Shiver marked the return of Shark Brothers nearly eight years after their first full-length album, Come Hell or High Water. The title alone encapsulates the project perfectly: a “shiver” is a collective noun for a group of sharks, while the word simultaneously evokes trembling from fear. It turns the group's identity into something darker and less obvious than simply placing another shark reference on the cover.

Across 12 tracks, Fubar, Sadida and Subcon form the backbone of the album, with appearances from fellow Shark Brothers affiliates 2032 and Silentmind. Production comes from DJ Rhum'1, DJ Joon, Chrisu Beats, Subcon and High Chief, giving the project the collaborative structure that its title suggests.

Where Come Hell or High Water leaned heavily into aquatic imagery, Shiver expands the atmosphere. Titles like “Shark Tank” and “Sea of Red” maintain the group's established identity, but much of the record is framed through darker language: “When Misery Ignites,” “Evil Within,” “Blast Radius,” “Comedy & Tragedy,” “The Last Goodbye,” “Ominous Terrain,” “Paranormal Activity” and the closing “Prison Without Locks.” The result is a project whose imagery feels less like a collection of songs about sharks and more like music created by the predators themselves.

There is also an effective progression to the tracklist. The explosive language of the album's opening stretch gradually gives way to increasingly ominous and psychological titles, eventually ending inside the “Prison Without Locks.” Whether referring to fear, internal conflict or something more abstract, it is an appropriately claustrophobic destination for an album called Shiver.

Mixed and arranged by Fubar, mastered by Subcon and featuring cover artwork by Subcon, Shiver feels like an evolution of the Shark Brothers concept rather than an attempt to recreate their first album. The ocean is still there, and so are the sharks, but by this point they no longer need to announce themselves. The name of the album already tells you what has gathered in the water.
